ALEXANDER SCHMIDT blog

SATURDAY MARCH 3, 2012

FAHREDIN Shehu (Rahovec, Kosovo, 1972)

SPOKE AND TAMARA

I polished the eyes of the child suffering
Removing layers of gauzy vision
To see bright teeth while I smile,
And the latent and well hidden world of hatred in my soul

I have washed the stratosphere disaster
Her parents carefully deposited in his being
Impregnated with tears of love
I removed all contaminated spirit membranes

I gave a smile to a frog
And a silent kiss jade

I filtered the dew of the white rose petal
And Ruby told the ripe pomegranate

I have planted all kinds of fruits
And created a playground for all of us
You can call it a garden
You can call newborn planting of love

But I know its Tachyon-IC  [1]  of soil
Where only love can plant your seed

I have adapted a dress emerald
And perfumed with amber for all children to use
I fed all stomachs  [2]

With the glare of my soul
To make them transparent
To be enlightened

I created the army of smiling
And I called all the experts to dismantle the machinery of hate
In the fields of the symphony of light
In the sacred moment of eternity

I embraced all children, visible and invisible
And rejoiced happiness

I have crushed all weapons
That humans and demons have created
And thus converted into each powder,
A smile gave birth to the love

Translator's Notes:
[1]  Theoretically, it is a subatomic particle which always moves faster than light.
[2]  The author says in the original English: "I feed every stomach", which can be translated literally as "I fed him every stomach", but in Spanish the latter word may sound shocking and far from the style used by the poet here. So I prefer this version

Translated by Luis Benitez (poet and essayist, Buenos Aires, 1956) depending on the version that appeared in the literary magazine Facts and Fictions , Number 8, March 2012, AñoIII.
